  • What should I expect during my first therapy appointment?

    During your first appointment, Dr. Allen will conduct a psychodiagnostic intake. You will be asked questions about your presenting concerns, any symptoms you are experiencing, your family and relationship history, current functioning, your treatment goals, and any other information pertinent to your treatment.

    Following this appointment, Dr. Allen will be able to identify any appropriate diagnoses and provide you with a treatment plan to fit your individual needs and goals.

  • Do you accept insurance?

    Dr. Allen is an in network provider with Aetna in Florida and Massachusetts.

    Insurance appointment availability is limited, please contact Dr. Allen if you are interested in using your insurance.

  • What if you do not accept my insurance?

    The Psychology Collective is considered a self pay, out of network practice. Payment for services is expected at the time that the service is rendered.

    Superbills can be provided upon request. Dr. Allen is non participating with insurance providers and will not engage in contact or disputes with insurance companies on behalf of clients.

    It is the client’s responsibility to check their out of network benefits and obtain any preauthorizations or verification of benefits prior to beginning treatment.

  • Who can work with Dr. Allen?

    Anyone! Dr. Allen specializes in treating anxiety disorders, relationship issues, and familial/relational trauma. However, Dr. Allen is trained as a generalist clinician and can treat a wide variety of mental health concerns.

    Dr. Allen is fully licensed in Florida and Massachusetts. Her APIT certificate allows her to provide virtual telehealth services to clients living in 42 states.

  • Do you offer in-person appointments?

    Dr. Allen offers in-person appointments in Tampa, FL via Wellness Psychological Services.

  • What if I don't live in Florida?

    Dr. Allen offers telehealth services to clients living in Massachusetts and 42 PSYPACT approved states.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let your provider know at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment.

    Failure to cancel you appointment before 24 hours or not attending your scheduled appointment without notice will result in a $100 fee.

    Services can be terminated for frequent cancellations or no shows.

  • How long should I expect to be in therapy?

    Duration of treatment is dependent upon a number of factors, including presenting concerns, severity and chronicity of symptoms, identified treatment goals, frequency of appointments, and work completed between sessions. Many clients attend weekly or biweekly appointments before shifting to monthly maintenance appointments once they achieve their goals.

  • How does medication apply to therapeutic treatment?

    Medication can be an incredibly helpful, and sometimes necessary, adjunct to psychotherapy. For some presenting concerns, medication is the primary treatment, while therapy plays a secondary role and for other presenting concerns, therapy is the primary intervention, while medication can enhance the impact of psychotherapeutic treatment. Dr. Allen has worked alongside numerous psychiatric treatment providers to help her clients attain their mental health goals.

  • What is your contact policy?

    Business hours (9am-5pm) on Monday - Friday.

    If you are an established client, please email, message, or call and we will do our best to get back to you within 24 hours.

    For new client inquiries, please allow 2 business days for a response.

    If Dr. Allen is out of the office, you will receive an an automated email letting you know when she will return to office.

  • Do you offer crisis counseling?

    We do our best to offer same week appointments to established clients when possible. However, Dr. Allen does not offer 24/7, on-call, crisis counseling services and will only respond to phone or email contacts during business hours.

    If you experience a mental health emergency, visit your nearest emergency department, contact 911, or contact a mental health hotline.
